Duane's Bio

The guitar caught Duane's interest from a very early age and he soon began taking lessons at about age six. It wasn’t long before he was heard playing at summer camp, churches and talent shows, and eventually earning an award in the sixth grade for an original song.

Duane didn’t take music seriously until high school with the rock band Pearl, performing for local dances and roller skating rinks. After high school Duane played in several Lancaster bands, most notably ‘Tyz’ who at their high point opened for The Guess Who. About this same time Duane decided to hone his vocal skills and studied for three years with local voice instructor Mary Jane Horcler.

When Tyz dissolved in 1989, Duane decided to start a solo acoustic act and so returned to his first love, the acoustic guitar. Presenting a smart mix of cover songs and original material, Duane quickly earned a favorable reputation as a popular entertainer and crowd pleaser.

Since 1989 Duane has performed his acoustic act on an average of 200 shows per year. His reputation as a strong performer, vocalist and guitarist continues to grow as he plays for many local and regional clubs, special events and corporate functions. Duane has also been the opening act for national acts such as Arlo Guthrie, Kansas, David Allen Coe, Billy Dean, and .38 Special. He continues to perform, write and record on a regular basis.
