The Bio Duane Slaymaker took an interest in the guitar at a very early age and began lessons at age six, soon after he began playing at summer camp, churches and local talent shows once even earning an award in sixth grade for a song he had written. Duane did not take music seriously until joining the rock band "Pearl" in high school performing at dances and local roller skating rinks. After high school he played with several Lancaster bands most notable the band Tyz who once opened for The Guess Who. It was at this time that Duane began honing his vocal skills by studying voice for three years under Mary Jane Horcler. When the band dissolved in 1989 Duane decided to return to his first love, the acoustic guitar and began doing his solo acoustic act. He quickly earned himself a favorable reputation as an entertainer and crowd pleaser playing cover material and slowly working his own original songs into the show.
